Our Deputy President for Western Jolly Mugisha is dead
A dark cloud has again blanketed our revolutionary struggle after the news of the demise of our Deputy President Hon. Jolly Mugisha whom many comrades preferred to call ‘Maama’.
She had been hospitalized for three weeks at Mbarara Regional Referral Hospital where she was being managed by medics. She was in a comma and undergoing treatment in the Intensive Care Unit.
The news of her demise was announced by the President H.E Kyagulanyi Ssentamu Robert who is out of the country at the moment on official duties in the United Kingdom. At 16:00hrs (E.A.T), the President in a social media statement announced;
“It’s with great sadness that I announce the passing of Hon. Jolly Mugisha, the National Unity Platform Deputy President for Western Uganda.
Mama Jolly has passed on this afternoon from Mbarara Regional Referral Hospital where she has been admitted in a coma for several weeks. Mama Jolly will always be remembered as a true Ugandan heroine. Other communication will be made in due course.
Rest in perfect peace, comrade Maama!.”
Our Secretary General David Lewis Rubongoya who has been a great friend to comrade Jolly also shared his deep condolences on X in a statement;
“It’s a very dark day at @NUP_Ug. May God receive your gentle soul in His eternal kingdom, Mama Jolly Mugisha! We shall always love you and cherish the great moments we shared with you. Till we meet again 💔💔💔”.
The party spokesperson Rt. Hon. Joel Ssenyonyi also conveyed his thoughts in an X statement reading;
“Hon Jolly Mugisha, NUP’s Deputy President in charge of Western Uganda has passed on after being hospitalized for some days.
She was not just a leader, but a mother to us. We shall miss her passion and zeal.
Rest in peace Mama Jolly.”
The burial arrangements of the deceased Maama Jolly Mugisha shall be communicated with the guidance of her family. The National Unity Platform party conveys its deepest condolences and prayers for the family of our fallen Deputy President for Western Maama Jolly Mugisha. May her soul rest in eternal peace.
